“Craftsmanship and quality are at the forefront of every piece.”

Amy M Clements was born in Central Virginia in 1991, and knew from an early age that she wanted to be an artist. Her desire to create was only outdone by her unmatched work ethic that she learned from her parents and from growing up in a setting where if you wanted something you worked for it.

In the summer of 2008, her hard work paid off as she was selected to participate in the Summer Residential Governor’s School program for visual art. This was followed by the acceptance to Virginia Commonwealth University for the Arts and received a BFA in sculpture with minors in Craft & Material Studies and US History in 2013. Her art tends to draw inspiration from history, be it events or ways of the old, as well as Appalachian folklore and music.

From 2013 up until 2020, Amy took a step back from the “world” to focus on her craft and to study ways to improve it. During this time, she returned to her roots and began homesteading, growing her own food and raising animals. By processing firewood, she learned how to take a tree all the way from standing to a piece of fine furniture worthy of gallery exhibits. Currently, she works in the trades field of carpentry for a local government entity which keeps her skills honed and polished.

Ironically, it was the Corona Pandemic of 2020 that caused her to step back into the “world” and in the spring of 2021, she regained a foothold in art when she immersed herself in the lost form of making Whirligigs. Thus, AMC-arts was reborn and continues to grow as it picks up more retail stores. In the near future, Amy hopes to branch out and start participating as a vendor at local events and music festivals selling her fancier Whirligig models and other unique items. Please stay tuned for future events and happenings!
